New Year New You: Setting Resolutions

New Year New You

It’s that time of the year again when New Year’s resolutions are piling up. People are getting excited to start their goals and setting strategies to achieve them. I personally love this time of the year, as it is a time to hit the refresh button on some things and set a new course for the upcoming year.

The tradition of celebrating a new year and setting resolutions is a cherished one for many, yet the setting resolutions part has received criticism from some people. The arguments critics make is that people set resolutions but fail to achieve them year over year, so there is no point. This is a fair argument but failing to achieve your goals does not mean you should stop trying. In fact, for the year 2019 I am encouraging you to push yourself more than you ever have, shoot for the stars, and just simply TRY.

So, are you planning on setting resolutions?

Setting resolutions (in other words, goals) can be a jump starter to getting something accomplished, even if it is not your exact goal you set. I tend to believe that even if you might not achieve whatever resolution you are setting now, the fact that you are trying to set one should be commended. It is the first step of action and is promising that you will do what you want to do.

Quick tips

When setting goals/resolutions it is important to remember the following

  • Write it down
  • Keep it simple
  • Make sure it is measurable
  • Be specific
  • Have a plan.
